The Black Lives Matter Mural Project is located at 641 Euclid Avenue in Berkeley, California. It consists of two large panels painted on adjoining garage doors which document the names, dates, occupations, hobbies, livelihoods and manner of death for some of the many African Americans who have perished due to state violence and police brutality. The mural – started in June 2020 – is the inspiration of Karina Epperlein and is supervised by her. It is still in progress.

We know Karina as a loving soul and a dear friend, so we are delighted she has started sharing her thoughts with all of you out there in the "ether". Her blog seems to us a fitting continuation of her life's work as a theatre artist and film maker. Many of her films address racial equality and diversity, the searing issues of our times in the United States. In particular, the films VOICES FROM INSIDE and FINDING THE GOLD WITHIN allow the viewer to see deeply inside the people she captures on camera, especially because she evokes their trust by her honesty and trustworthiness as a person and film maker. Treat yourself to some deep emotional experiences and watch her films. Also, come see the visual memorial she has created in front of her home in Berkeley. You may be surprised by the emotions they evoke in you. With much appreciation and love, Vivian Nelson and Bill Roller
